Kaziranga National Park, Assam
Kaziranga Wild Life Sanctuary is located in the Golaghat and Nagaon districts of Assam, Northeastern state of India near the Brahmaputra River. It was declared World Heritage site by the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) in 1985. In the earlier days, it was established for reserved park for One-horned Rhinoceros In 1916,it was known as The Kazinranga Game Sanctuary then in 1950 it was renamed as Kaziranga Wild Life Sanctuary and declared as National Park in 1974.
Major Wildlife Attractions
It consists nearly about 67% world's Great One-horned Rhinoceroses. It was recognized as an Important Bird Area by Bird-life International. It consists highest no of tigers among all the protected areas for tigers. It also consists of elephants, wild water buffalo and swamp deer, Indian Bison, Barasingha, Sloth Beats, Leopard Cats, Hog Deer, Otters, Hoolock Gibbons, Jackal, Pythons, Monitor Lizards, etc.
How to reach Kaziranga
By Air
The nearest airport from the Kaziranga National Park is Jorhat. It is at the distance of 217 KMs away from the national park. You can come here by regular flights from Kolkata, Guwahati etc.
By Road
There are many roads connected to the other big cities of Assam. Guwahati, Tezpur and many other cities are connected
By Train
The nearest Railway Station from the park is Furkating, about 75 KMs away.

Best Time to visit...
Kaziranga's visiting season is from mid-November to early April months. During the monsoons, the Brahmaputra River bursts it banks, flooding the low-lying grasslands and causing animals to migrate from one area to another within the Kaziranga National Park.
