Girnar (Beauty of Mountains) - Junagadh

Hello Friends,
                  Junagadh is my home city and i am proud to have the Girnar, biggest mountain in the Gujarat is located here. It is the amazing place to visit during the winter. I have visited Girnar nearly about more than 10 times.

Girnar is the collection of mountains located in the Junagadh, District of Gujarat, India which is about 327 km away from Ahemdabad. Its origin can be traced back to the Vedas and other holy scriptures of various Indus Valley based religions.  

Older than Himalayas, Girnar, the mountain and its range are considered sacred and it's an important pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Jains, who gather here during the Girnar Parikrama festival. Significantly famous among Shiva devotees for the mystic space-time of the mountain range with known presence and turnover of different sects of Sadhu Babas, Nath sect, different Jain Tirthankaras to Girnar, its typical flora and fauna, the famous Maha Shivratri fair, Girnar hosts a number of temples and some historical spots across its range. Amidst the lush green Gir Forest, the mountain range serves as the hub of religious activity. Girnar has one of its peak in which you can see the Man sleeping.

Girnar Parikrama

Girnar has 9999 steps to reach at the top.  There are five important Jain temples, besides several Hindu Shrines.  As per Gujarati Calender, Girnar Parikrama which is also known as Lili Parikrama is held on Kartak Sud Agiyaras. It travels around Girnar. It is nearly about 36 km (22 Mile) long. It starts from the Parikrama Gate. Large no of people come from the different areas for parikrama. Social workers provide their best services and there are so many stalls for food is available. Pilgrims make the trip in 3 days.

How to reach Girnar

By Air

The Nearest airport is Rajkot which is about 100 km from Junagadh and it is connected with Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi and many major Indian cities. The Nearest International airport is in Ahmedabad which is about 400 km from Junagadh.

By Road

State transport buses and private transport are easily available.

By Train

Nearest railway station is in the Junagadh and easily available trains for major cities.
